Peach Wave

Posted by ChroniclesCapersCanards
I went to peach wave for the first time last week with a friend of mine after school. I didn't really know what to expect because i had never been there before and wasn't really a big fan of frozen yogurt so i was interested to see what it would be like. When i walked in, i was surprised to see all of the many flavors that they have to choose from. Since it was my first time and I didn't really know what to get, i just stuck to the basics. I got chocolate and strawberry frozen yogurt mixed together. When i walked over to the toppings section, my jaw dropped at the amount of options that they had for you to put on your frozen yogurt. I stuck old school and went with the colored sprinkles and m&m's. I really like the chocolate, but for me, the strawberry was too sweet. I liked it a lot but i still would rather go to Ferris Creamery to get homemade ice cream that melts in your mouth. I will still go to Peach Wave once in a while but i think majority of the time i will end up going to Ferris because it's ice cream.

Sbarro's

Posted by ChroniclesCapersCanards

One day I went to the mall with my friend, and we ate something in the food court. I went up to the first place, Sbarro’s, and thought that the Stromboli looked pretty good so I ordered one. IT sounded pretty good at first, and looked pretty good from the outside. When I started eating it, it tastes good. It was filled with pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. As I was chewing towards the middle of the Stromboli, it tasted a little chewy but I thought that it was just the cheese. I decided to open it up because it tasted really weird. It definitely wasn’t cheese, but raw dough. After I saw that the dough wasn’t cooked, it totally turned me off from it and I didn’t even finish eating it. Even thought I didn’t find hairs of a bug in it, it was pretty gross because I always get really nervous when eating raw foods because I think that I’m going to get some kind of food poisoning or something even if that isn’t really likely. Needless to say, next time I wont be so quick to choose a random food stand at the mall anymore, I’m going to look a little harder to see if there is possibly another place that I could go to. If I ever go there again, I don’t really think that I am going to get a Stromboli, and if I do, I’m going to check inside first to make sure that it is cooked all of the way. I didn’t really want to send it back because I feel bad for some reason, but if it ever happens again, I defiantly will be bringing that back to Sbarro.

The Cheesecake Factory Experience

Posted by ChroniclesCapersCanards

3/1/12: Today was my first time going to the Cheesecake Factory. It is the newest addition to the Danbury Fair mall. What an experience that was! The atmosphere in that restaurant was incredible. It was beautiful. When I walked in, I thought I was walking in a dream, it was breath taking. Don’t even get me started on the food. It was nicely presented, and it tasted fantastic. I had a tough time picking what I wanted to order. There was such a variety, a plethora of sandwiches, salads, and of course cheesecake. So, I decided to order something new that I figured I would like. It was a BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. You know when you really like what you ordered at first, but as you continue to take bites you slowly get sick of the taste? Yeah, that’s what happened to me. It was good in the beginning, but the more I ate it, the more, I just didn’t want it anymore. The sandwich was good, just not amazing. I think it was because the port was drenched with barbeque sauce, which made the bun a bit mushy. No one else could complain about their meals. They complimented the waiter for the excellent food and his service. Even when we were stuffed, we ordered a few desserts: banana cream cheesecake, tiramisu cheesecake, and a rich chocolate cake. I choose the chocolate cake of course. I’m more of a dessert person then an actual meal. What can I say; I have a huge sweet tooth. I like my sweets.

"Special Brownies"

Posted by ChroniclesCapersCanards
I stumbled upon the BEST dessert recipe a while ago and decided to make it. The dessert has an inappropriate name for a school blog, so let's just call them "special brownies".

What you'll need for this is:
  • your favorite cookie dough batter, or you can make your own from scratch.
  • your favorite brownie batter, or again, you can make your own from scratch.
  • a packet of Oreo's.

You'll also need an 8 x 8 glass baking pan.

Preheat your oven to 350°F

Line your baking pan with non-stick paper (in other words, parchment paper).

Make your cookie dough. This recipes suggests to be generous on the water and oil than what the recipe calls for when making the dough because it keeps it moist for when you make it longer than suggested. Then press the dough down in the pan so it's packed down and evenly covers the bottom.

Then single layer Oreo's down on top of the cookie dough.

Then make your brownie batter and pour it over your Oreo's and cookie dough.

Bake for 30 minutes. Or until your brownies are fully cooked to your liking.

When it's out of the oven, you can easily lift the parchment paper out and place your layered brownies on to a cutting board.

Cut your piece, take a bite, and you're in heaven. The best time to eat it is right out of the oven, but give it enough time for it to cool so you don't burn your mouth of course. It is so moist and gooey good-ness. The cookie part of it isn't too hard, I like my cookies nice and mushy.

I totally recommend adding some vanilla ice cream on top.

Yumm :)

I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice cream. Ice cream is one of if not the most, favorite dessert in America. Its soft or hard creamy texture melts in your mouth along with all your troubles for those few moments. It refreshes people on the hottest days and makes any party even the boring ones better. Flavors come from classic vanilla to more original flavors like Ben and Jerry's Chubby Hubby. With all the different brands there's so any to choose from. Some higher end like Ben and Jerry’s to more affordable brands likes Friendly’s. Recently a new ice cream company has come to my attention. The brand is called Lovin. This company has something very unique about there ice cream. All the flavors have less fat and are healthier for you then almost all of other competitors. But now you’re probably thinking that it taste bad or even has no flavor at all. But that’s not true. This ice cream is delicious. In my opinion it even tastes richer then some of the regular brands. Each flavor has a strong taste so that there's no second-guessing which flavor is which. It’s one of the best, if not the best store brand ice cream I have ever had. There is no doubt that ice cream shops have the best ice cream that’s most fresh, however when I have to buy store brands Lovin is my first choice. My personal favorite is called “What the Fudge”. Its chocolate ice cream with strips of very rich and creamy dark chocolate. The fudge is actually like one you might buy in a candy store or a pastry shop. The ice cream makes me think I’m eating something rich and decadent, but in reality its actually a healthier alternative. I think that with many experts and informed people pushing for healthier foods Lovin will continue to grow and eventually other ice cream companies will change there recipes for something a bit healthier.

Food Network Around the Country

Posted by ChroniclesCapersCanards
One thing I find interesting in the world of food would be all the different shows that I see on the food network channel. One of the shows I really like to watch is Man vs. Food. The host Adam goes around to all different restaurants and food joints around the country, trying to eat all these different huge creations that different chefs make and challenge people to eat in certain times. I am personally amazed at how he is able to eat some of these meals that are just giant in size and portion. An example would be a huge 6 pound or more burrito that he took down in less than an hour. Adam also eats these things that are extremely hot and spicy, in these short amounts of time, with no or limited drinks. I just don’t know how he can do it. I like to eat spicy things every once in awhile, but only to a certain degree. I can’t eat super spicy foods like my dad likes to do. I can eat somewhat spicy things and usually with ranch dressing or blue cheese all over it. Although not as much, I like to watch all the other food shows that just show some of the top restaurants around the country. Those shows always make my mouth water. I love to see how all these different talented chefs cook up these dishes that at least look and sound really good. The one thing I hate about those shows is that these amazing restaurants are not anywhere near where we live so I’ll probably never get to eat at them.
