Pasta Parties
Posted by ChroniclesCapersCanards
Tennis, Field hockey, Football, Baseball, etc. all sports in high school have games, matches, meets, etc. but through all the training and hard work there is always one thing that I think almost everyone looks forward to: Pasta Parties. Pasta parties are typically hosted by one family and then three other families each bring something. For tennis and field hockey the other parents bring bread and salad, desert, and drinks. Pasta parties are an out of school way to get to known your teammates better and to have some time to relax. But they are technically for preparing for the competition usually held the next day which is why the meal is almost all carbs. At the tennis pasta parties we always have a great time! Depending on the host the parties can vary. Some parents are chefs and create the most delicouis and decident food. I once went to a party where the mother baked a Barefoot Contessa ziti with five cheeses, it was some of the best pasta I had ever had. While other parents make good food but at the end of the day it really isn't that much to brag about. All food tastes great of course but some is just better than others.
Food: Pasta is the main course, usually ziti, tortellini, spaghetti, lasagna, or plain noodles severed with tomato sauce or sometimes butter. Then the salads are either the typical iceberg lettuce with tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers, or there sometime more interesting like waldorf salad with apples, walnuts, goat cheese etc. Of course all this is served with drinks that include: soda, water, iced tea, lemonade, gatorade, and other juices. Finally the much anticipated desert. Depending on the team and size it has typically been anywhere from cakes to cookies, brownies, ice cream, pies, cupcakes, fruit, layer bars, etc. Overall the party is always a great time because your with friends and good food!
